DroneDeploy Partners with ACCE to Train Tomorrow’s Construction Technology Leaders

DroneDeploy, the leading reality capture platform, has partnered with the American Council for Construction Education (ACCE) to provide free software and training to participating construction programs across the country. This program aims to train the next generation of construction practitioners and help the industry meet ever-growing labor demands.

In the face of labor concerns, the construction industry is quickly adopting new technologies to fill the gap. A recent study by Autodesk and the Association of General Contractors (AGC) found that 93% of construction companies reported having difficulty filling positions. That’s why DroneDeploy has partnered with ACCE to make their software and training materials available to construction educators so that they can get the incoming construction labor force up to speed on the latest tools and technology.

Professors at ACCE-accredited undergraduate and graduate programs can receive 25 seats on DroneDeploy’s cloud-based platform, teaching materials, lecture plans, access to an online repository of self-paced training, and free part-107 preparatory class for students. “Our goal is to make it simple to integrate technology into any classroom and prepare students for the needs of the workforce,” said Rebecca Lehman, program manager at DroneDeploy.

Steve Nellis, President of ACCE, was thrilled about the new partnership. “We see a need for more technology in the construction industry and are really looking forward to working with DroneDeploy to narrow the skilled labor shortage gap. ACCE aims to be a bridge between industry and the classroom, and this program is well aligned with its organizational mission. As drones are now an integral tool for construction sites, teaching in the classroom is crucial to their success."

Early participants in the program include the Construction Management departments at Clemson University, Auburn University, and California Polytechnic University. "DroneDeploy is by far the most widely used program among our industry partners," says Mark Tatum, professor at Auburn University. “The support DroneDeploy is providing for education provides resources that are easy to implement in the classroom and gives students exposure to data capture, processing, and applications in real-world exercises they will use on the job site.”

DroneDeploy is the leading reality capture platform, making the power of interactive digital twins accessible and productive for everyone.

Trusted by Fortune 500 companies globally, DroneDeploy transforms sites, structures and assets into easy-to-understand digital representations that are accessible from any location, altitude or angle — all in one platform. Intuitive by design, DroneDeploy helps businesses in the construction, energy and agriculture industries to save time, improve safety and lower unforeseen costs throughout their entire operation.

Since 1974, the American Council for Construction Education has been the leading global advocate that promotes, supports, and accredits quality construction education programs. By working together under the aegis of ACCE, representatives of the entire construction community and the public at large, construction educators and constructors establish and maintain standards and criteria for accreditation, provide guidance to those seeking to achieve accredited status, and carry out the accreditation and reaccreditation processes. In doing so, ACCE serves potential students’ interests by helping them identify Institutions and Construction Degree Programs that offer quality education in construction management and technology. It also serves the industry’s interests by enabling employers to identify persons who, because of their education and training, have the potential to make lasting contributions to the industry and their profession.
