Whether oil & gas companies need to inspect hundreds of wellheads or dangerous flare stacks, or construction companies need to inspect 50-story high rises, or renewable energy companies need to inspect wind turbines, when it comes to large scale operations, inspections are a vital aspect to any job site.
Historically, inspections have been expensive, dangerous, time-consuming, or a combination of all three. Today, though, using DroneDeploy, companies get peace-of-mind knowing their workers are safe and inspection times are cut substantially, creating a positive impact on any company’s budget.
Here’s a quick look at how to perform inspections in DroneDeploy’s complete cloud-based solution.
Flight
First, complete a flight plan within DroneDeploy. This ensures everything is captured correctly, leaving no stone unturned. Once the flight plan is intact – and with Enhanced 3D turned on – the drone can now capture an entire job site completely autonomously.
If you notice an issue during flight, DroneDeploy enables you to switch over to Manual Flight and perform low-altitude inspections of your job site, giving an up-close-and-personal look at whatever issues were detected. This allows you to decipher between what needs attention immediately, and what is merely an aberration.
Taking Action
Once the flight is complete, DroneDeploy produces a high-resolution 3D model of your site.
This allows you to click on points within the 3D model to open high-resolution photos of that location. You can then zoom and pan into the original source photo to look for any problems.
When you spot irregularities, use the issue tool to label and draw attention to them. Even after the initial inspection is performed and workers have been dispatched to fix the issues, using DroneDeploy, you can fly the exact same flight plan to verify all issue has been resolved, all while mitigating risk and cutting costs. After your flight plan is completed, easily find the issue in your dashboard list and change the status from ‘Open’ to ‘Closed.’
Enhanced Inspections
Depending on your industry, there are several other areas DroneDeploy can be utilized to perform inspections. Oil & Gas companies use Thermal Live Map to detect any anomalies in flare stacks or wellheads. Solar energy companies can use capture Radiometric Thermal data to see which solar panels are properly working on their farm.
DroneDeploy takes the guesswork out of inspections by giving you detailed data in a fraction of the time. No longer do you need 20 people on site, manually walking the job site, resulting in hours of unnecessary staffing hours. Now, you only need one person flying and capturing data that can be shared across the entire team.
With DroneDeploy’s inspection features, you’ll be able to save your company money, increase efficiencies, and mitigate risks. Your powerful, simple, cross-industry drone software solution is here.
