Customers today are using drone data in conjunction with geographic data housed in Esri to solve a number of problems in facilities management, site documentation, and asset tracking. However, there is a challenge viewing the latest site maps alongside these datasets. With so many of our users employing Esri as a foundational part of their business, we needed to streamline these processes and enable faster decision making. As of our newest product release, you can automatically serve all of your most recent maps into your ArcGIS instance, removing the need to navigate across multiple platforms. This saves money in the long run by providing higher quality, high-resolution imagery directly to your ArcGIS account, without the need for internal or 3rd party development costs. Here are how several industries can leverage the new Esri integration today:
Energy
It’s common in the energy sector to have surplus yards where excess inventory and assets are managed. As one could assume, these yards are often large in size and are home to a myriad of assets from multiple sites and projects. Because of this, it’s possible contents aren’t accurately documented. And when a new site opens up, equipment is frequently repurchased rather than reused. If organizations used drone technology for asset tracking, additional funds could be saved by precisely knowing what’s in the inventory yard, avoiding duplicate pieces of equipment.
The same can be said for well construction and compliance within the oil and gas industry. When these wells are constructed, organizations need to document these assets and their accompanying equipment in order to prove compliance to regulators. However, because of the scale of these projects and their propensity to involve multiple contractors and subcontractors, it can be difficult to know what’s actually out in the field. With the Esri integration, these assets are easily identifiable.
Esri documents the location of your job sites and their current status. Instead of relying on Google Earth imagery (which is updated once or twice a year), or a costly satellite imagery subscription, users can use a drone to document their site through every stage of their operations. Using DroneDeploy software, your most recent maps – accessible by everyone on your team – will clearly show site compliance with regulations, as well as visual evidence of its current status. If a site has been closed down outside of regulations, it will be highly apparent to users that changes need to be made.
Construction and Utilities
DroneDeploy provides visual evidence of equipment, site, and asset conditions with precise location tracking and condition documentation in Esri. Users can rest assured that substantial, expensive assets like lines, poles, and towers are kept in working condition, using spatial data to determine the current condition of those assets. Users can also track pathways and assess the best options for hauling and trucking in complex construction sites. Having the best understanding of these conditions is imperative to influencing growth opportunities, infrastructure requirements, and potential hazards on construction sites.
The DroneDeploy and Esri integration is an out-of-the-box solution for asset tracking, field operations and communication, and facilities management. Instead of spending hundreds of thousands of dollars on development costs to create and maintain your unique imagery pipeline, the integration is deployment-ready, enabling you to bring immediate value to diverse, cross-functional teams. We host the imagery on our servers, meaning there is never a lag time in imagery loading. You can count on it appearing immediately after the map has finished processing within DroneDeploy. The maps load as a single unified layer, ensuring a quick load time, every time.
While Esri offers an expansive platform to manage your organization’s assets, facilities, and operations, DroneDeploy provides the real-time, high-resolution visual context to your projects. By understanding exactly where and what condition your sites are in, you will improve efficiency and communication across your teams, allowing for better planning and communication.
